TL Hanna track athletes excelled at the State Championship track and field meet at Richland Northeast High School.
Senior Mekhi Malcolm finished off his career with his second state championship in the shot put. This year, Mekhi was able to turn in a throw of 19.8 meters, breaking the state record that had stood since 1989 (19.59). Malcolm also added a second place finish in the discus to score more points for the team, helping Hanna to a 10th place finish in the team standings.
Senior AJ Heaton earned his first state championship with a win the 110 high hurdles. Heaton came into the event as one of the favorites and rose to the occassion to best the rest of the 15 individuals in the event.
On the girls side, freshman Elle Bailey turned in all state performances with her times in the 100 high hurdles (4th Place) and the 400 hurdles (6th place) for her first two all state performances of her career.
