Charleigh Waters and Erin Lyda placed 2nd and 3rd in the first ever race run under the Unified Track and Field banner at the State Championships for track and field. Unified Track and Field is a sport that allows students of differing abilities to compete with their school peers in athletic competition against other schools that offer the program. The team finished 2nd place at the Upper State championship two weeks ago with an outstanding performance. Lyda and Waters had times that placed high enough to earn the opportunity to compete against the other top finishers in the lowcountry and midlands unified qualifying meets. ...

TL Hanna track athletes excelled at the State Championship track and field meet at Richland Northeast High School. Senior Mekhi Malcolm finished off his career with his second state championship in the shot put. This year, Mekhi was able to turn in a throw of 19.8 meters, breaking the state record that had stood since 1989 (19.59). Malcolm also added a second place finish in the discus to score more points for the team, helping Hanna to a 10th place finish in the team standings. Senior AJ Heaton earned his first state championship with a win the 110 high hurdles. Heaton came into the event as one of the favorites and rose to the occassion to best the rest of the 15 individuals in the event. On the girls side, freshman Elle Bailey turned in all state performances with her times in the 100 high hurdles (4th Place) and the 400 hurdles (6th place) for her first two all state performances of her career. T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets took Friday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over EHS Eagles at T. L. Hanna High School. T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets were down 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Jackson Robinson singled, scoring two runs. EHS Eagles got on the board in the top of the third inning after Anson Reynolds doubled to center field, and Peyton Schrader singled to center field, each scoring one run. T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a single by Robinson, and a sacrifice bunt by Reece Oakley. EHS Eagles took the lead in the top of the eighth. Andrew Brandt hit a solo home run to right field, to give EHS Eagles the edge, 3-2. Jackson Driver earned the win for T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none. Aiden McCroskey took the loss for EHS Eagles. The righty went two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Connor Brooks stepped on the hill first for T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets. The righty gave up 10 hits and three runs over seven and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Johnny Rosario stepped on the mound first for EHS Eagles. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets collected 10 hits in the game. Robinson drove the middle of the lineup, leading T.L. Hanna Varsity Yellow Jackets with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. TLH Softball advances to the state semifinals with a 2-0 district championship win over 3x defending state champion Catawba Ridge. Cal Harbin will represent the Yellow Jackets 1 more time as a selection for the North/South All Star Match. Cal was the '25 Region Golfer of the Year after his win at the region tournament, and fired a '26 season low 68 to help TLH to their 1st Upper State title since 2005. He has been a starter for 3 state championship teams at TL Hanna. ...

The TL Hanna Varsity Boys Golf team capped an amazing season with a 3rd place finish at the AAAAA-D2 State Championship. TL Hanna was led in the event by senior Erik Erlenkeuser who posted a two day total of 9 under par to win his second consecutive individual state championship. Erlenkeuser was tied for second after day 1, but posted a 7 under par round of 65 on day 2 to claim a 4 shot victory. Junior Bennett Scaletta posted a two day total of one under par to earn all state honors for himself for the 3rd time in his career. He was followed in scoring by 8th grader Wilson Cauley who turned in a one over par round of 73 on day 2 and a two day total of 6 over par. Senior Cal Harbin finished his outstanding TL Hanna career with a 75 in round 2 and a two day total of 10 over par. Sophomore Bryce Ritter played in the event in the 5 spot and posted back to back rounds of 79 in his first state championship appearance for the Jackets.
