GOLF BREAKS THE 2003 TEAM'S 18 HOLE SCORING RECORD WITH WIN AT HURRICANE

TLH Varsity Boys Golf set the 18 hole scoring record today in winning the Hurricane Invitational with a 278 (-10), breaking the 2003 team's score of 279 (-9). Erik Erlenkeuser (65), Bennett Scaletta (67), Cal Harbin (72), Wilson Cauley (74) and Bryce Ritter (76).

Individually, Erlenkeuser finished 9 under par for the event to finish in 2nd place and earn all tournament status. Scaletta used his outstanding day 2 to move up into a tie for 4th place at 3 under par for the two day total.

In earning the record, the Yellow Jackets relied heavily on the two individuals who have combined to win the last 3 SCJGA Player of the Year awards, but it was the efforts of the entire team on hole 18 that pulled out the tournament title and record score. As a team, TL Hanna played the par 5 18th hole at 6 under par while the teams in contention for the team title both played the hole at 1 under par. The Jackets received birdies from Scaletta and Erlenkeuser and eagles by Harbin and Cauley. Ritter threw in an eagle for good measure in his round on hole 18 as well.
