MILES AND SCANLON EARN ALL STATE HONORS

TL Hanna wrestling capped a great season with a strong showing at the state individual championships in Florence, SC.

Malachi Miles led the way with a run to the state championship match at 285 pounds. Miles started the day with dominant wins by pin to advance to the semifinals before earning a come from behind third period win to advance to the title match. Miles dropped his championship match 4-1 but earned all state honors by placing in the top 4 in his weight class.

Jackson Scanlon competed at 106 pounds and earned all state honors by placing 4th in his weight class. Scanlon won his first two matches of the tournament 17-1 and 11-5 to place him in the semfinals, where he lost his match to the eventual champion. Scanlon earned a win on Saturday to advance to the 3rd place match where he dropped a closely fought match in overtime to fall just short of earning the bronze medal.

Kavon Cole, Jimmarion Boston, and Logan Alf all competed in the event as well. Cole advanced to the semifinals, but lost two tough matches to fall just one win short of earning all state. Boston earned a win in consolations to earn himself 100 for his career, while Alf picked up a win in consolations as well on Friday to earn valuable team points.

Coach Lance Abernathy and senior Malachi Miles will now compete in the North/South All Star Classic in North Myrtle Beach February 26-28th.
