The TL Hanna Girls Golf team completed the dream season by capping it off with a comeback win in the round 2 of the State Championship in Myrtle Beach. The Yellow Jackets trailed long time rival Chapin by 5 shots heading into day two, but played well in extremely tough weather conditions to pull away from the field and win by 12 shots over runner-up Conway High School.
Senior Marisssa Scaletta used a hole out eagle on the par 5 6th hole to kick start her round and pick up a 4 shot win to earn her first individual state championship. She and her brother Bennett now become just the third brother/sister combo to win a state championship individually in South Carolina high school golf history.
Junior Serra Erlenkeuser followed up her third place individual finish last season with a runner up finish behind Scaletta. Erlenkeuser was steady both days of the competition grinding out pars to move up the leaderboard on day 2. Serra finishes her junior season with all state honors to with 2 individual tournament wins in the regular season at the Patriot Invitational and the WSCGA High School Invitational.
Sophomore Sierra Schulze earned her second straight all state honors by placing 5th individually in the field. Schulze was in contention for a top 2 spot after her stellar 76 round on day 1 put her in second place, teid with her two teammates. Schulze finished the season strong earning an individual win at the Upper State Championship tournament firing a career low round of 70.
Freshman Hanna Erlenkeuser and Hayden Bell tied for the 4th posting score on day 1 with 96s, but Erlenkeuser used an outstanding front 9 score of 5 over par on day 2 to improve her score to an 89 on day 2 and help TL Hanna take a lead into the back 9 that they would not give up. Bell highlighted her day with a par on hole 14 and improved her day 2 round by a shot (95).
