HEINTZ EARNS ALL STATE AND LEADS JACKETS TO 8TH PLACE AT STATE MEET

TL Hanna Girls Swim Team finished off a successful season with an 8th place finish at the 5A Division 2 state swim meet. Every point counted as the Jackets earned that 8th place finish, and an extra 20 points for the athletic department in the Carlisle Cup standings. The Carlisle Cup measures the cumulative overall success of an athletic department each year.

Coach Moore gave an interview to sum up the performance of the team:

Senior Emily Heintz capped off an amazing career with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle and a 3rd place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Her 100 Free race came down to the top 3 competitors being separated by just six tenths of a second. Emily will head to Queens University in Charlotte to continue her career, leaving TL Hanna with 9 top 4 (All State) finishes in individual races as the state meet and 5 times being named an All Region Swimmer. She also holds 6 of the 8 individual swim records at TL Hanna.

Sophomore Kyle Heaton turned in two top 10 finishes for the Jackets in the 500 Free and 200 Free. Her 5th place in the 200 Free represents her highest individual finish at the state meet. Jillian Weathers scored big points for TL Hanna with a strong showing in the 100 backstroke and her two relay races. Ellie Mears set a personal best in the 200 Individual medley by 5 seconds and Angela Yaekoub set a personal best in the 500 Freestyle race in her first appearance at the state championship meet.
